bikes in Montreal

In Montreal they have a wonderful public bike sharing system. There is something beautiful about seeing this sort of thing in the street!

BIXI is the new bikestyle, truly a means of transport unto itself. It’s the bike you take whenever you want and leave behind when you reach your destination. It’s BIXI – now you’ve got wheels.

one more day!
15-Aug-09
I’ve been driving since Monday morning and have just one more day until I’m at my new home! I’ve had a great adventure which I will write about more when I’ve landed.
Tonight I decided to stay in a motel in Wawa, Ontario where I also had a spaghetti dinner at a nearby restaurant (which was suprisingly good!)
Calgary!

I am having a good time in Calgary! “Three days of rain rain rain and scary driving, then I cross into Calgary, turn on the Country music station and the sun comes out across gorgeous green hills, each car beside me splattering up real rainbows of mist WOW” (quoted from Facebook)
& unlike the night before, I had a comfy place to stay with awesome friends, though I had to share with these guys:

I “went West” in search of a new life 5 years ago, and am now going back to Ontario because I fell in love with someone who lives there at a point when I was prepared to make a jump into the unknown. My intuition tells me I’m approaching a life upgrade and I trust that :)
It had been a long time since I’d been in a relationship, and though I like the idea of “transcending” the need for one, I was feeling lonely.
I asked the Universe for someone who was compatible, interested, and available & trusted that it would happen when it was time. A wise friend suggested I add that the attraction would be “irresistible” and that it would be obvious who I was to be with. When I let go of the idea that I “needed to be with a musican” someone awesome appeared. It seems someone who writes and makes video (among other things) is a more compatible companion ;)
I am so happy and grateful we were finally ready to find each other. I anticipate the journey to my new home.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Victoria Electronic Music Festival. I love to dance (it’s definitely in my top 5 of favourite things) however am done with the nightclub scene. There’s something so magical about being able to dance in the daytime, for free, right outside of City Hall!
One of the greatest things about this type of event is the people who wander in not knowing about the open joy of movement that is part of modern electronic music dance culture (FYI: no one calls it “raving” anymore) and seeing them join right in. That sort of thing can change a person’s life!
Victoria is an awesome town.
See my Flickr photo set for this event for more images.

As some readers know, I’ve changed my identity before & used to be known as “The Practical Hippie” writing articles like this one on Corporations (before that awesome Corporation movie came out) in 2002. That article took me two months to research and write and I’m not too shy to say I’m proud of it.
When I moved to BC in 2004, I realized I’m definitely not a hippie, however in Toronto people thought I was. It’s a matter of perspective. Out here, a hippie lives the lifestyle for real. In Toronto, if you ask for organic food and have long hair that’s enough to get the label. I also wanted to avoid the negative connotations some have with the term.
A friend called me Margonaut in a tribe.net comment and I thought it was great & went along with the whole Entheos future sci-fi aesthetic I was immersed in 24/7. I’m now taking a step back from “The Lightship” though I’m still totally in love with it and will all-ways attend every year.
Now that things are changing for me (yay healthy maturity!) it may be time to change again. I’ll keep Margonaut around of course :)
I’m thinking of using my alwaysadapting.com domain name as my main URL. It seems like one that could be enduring. What do you think?
& for today I’m going offline Now to enjoy amazing & beautiful Victoria…
