not much to say today
investigations, insight, unconditional Love for the greater Oneness, tales of adventure, and shameless optimism from the edge of the not so distant future

TEXT:
take a moment
and STOP
remember…
everything that is going on
every 3D appearance
all the stories
are mere illusions
tiny temporary sparks
impermanent!
see the BIG picture
all existance is ONE
Now
go inward
breathe
notice whats real
only Love
Now
Love Now
and if your Now is dark
Love it alll
(all the more)
Love the dark
as part of the Oneness
for its perfect lessons
and bless it on its way
because…
its all One
Now
life happens this Way
for your benefit
always (all ways)
only Love
Now
Love Now
Last Sunday I played at church and it was one of the best musical experiences of my life.
A peaceful energy descended and it felt as if a huge amount of emotional anxiety and sadness was being cleared from the room.
Afterwards I needed to cry for quite some time.
Despite the darker feelings that moved through me, there is nothing I love more than the experience of being a vessel for healing music!

I made more music yesterday! Listen and/or download here.
It’s a meditative track “remixed” from the Heart Chakra track @

I am remembering two years ago when I felt I “didn’t know how to improvise” and now it flows so easily!
After yesterday’s recording session with incredibly complex software & electronic equipment, today’s music project was quite simple in comparison.
I made this in one take & decided it was perfect as is, enjoy!
Youtube version:
I’m cleaning out the files on my 5 year old Imac G4 in preparation for my soon to arrive Macbook Pro and found this flute video from last August I never posted…
I’ve rediscovered my piccolo, a fun and very portable instrument!
I’ve given notice at my residence to leave for September 1st and I do not where I am going to go or what I am going to do yet.
Here are a few lists I’m working with at this time:
TO DO:
- do what needs to be done calmly
- choose what to do in each moment and practice focus
- remember music
- get organized inside and out
- take care of the body
- do my best
WHAT I INTEND:
- to move towards self-realization
- to be peaceful, happy, and of Divine service
- time & space to play and practice flute & develop musically
- healthy food & clean water
- a resonant job or other way of manifesting money (so I can take care of the person, pay my own bills, and share generously)
WHAT I AM:
- Love

this morning I decided that I must get my flute fixed despite the material expense
though it may be “impractical” in a set of conventional eyes, this is a Divine calling
am going to Vancouver on Tuesday for other appointments & plan to drop it off then
it is key I have it in time for Entheos and the Summer in general…
this season of peon pay doing taxes for a living has shown me where my True priorities lie and I must choose this
though there are little doubts my soul rejoices
if there is anyone who would like to donate to my flute fund a donation to Mastercard will be made in your honour!

The Entheos 2007 CD is now available for free download. I am featured playing flute on the first track :)
Entheos Audio Archive 1.0
www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/entheos-audio-archive-10
Entheos Audio Archive 1.0 features a blissful assortment of intelligent psychedelic downtempo and visionary ambient electronica from the west coast of Canada and the United States. It was originally compiled by Akhentek of the Entheogenetic Label Group and released on CD as a free gift for all attendees of the inaugural Entheos summer solstice festival and conference in 2007. The high-resolution artwork included in each package doubles as the festival map and stage schedule; this should give you a feel for the event. Be sure to check out the Entheos web site for information on this year’s gathering, to be held on the Sunshine Coast, B.C.
To get the 2008 CD, come to this year’s Entheos!
A new track is available from my collaborative project with DJ Akhentek.
To hear it, visit our CBC3 page.
Here’s a video of me playing along with music in the kitchen (something I enjoy doing because it has the best acoustics in the house.) The recording doesn’t really do the way it sounds justice.
The track I’m playing along with is from the compilation “Gruen024″ at www.stadtgruenlabel.net (look under “releases”) the track is “Sprenkler” (lots of nice music at this site!)
Indianapolis, ca. 1987

Here’s a new book review video on the amazing Meditation in a New York Minute: Super Calm for the Super Busy.
I will be doing videos a lot more often from now on as I really enjoy the process. I have a lot of room to improve in terms of presence in front of the camera and technical skills however I’m going to let myself be a beginner and keep having fun with it.
This video also features some flute playing, though a the low end microphone in the wind does not quite capture the sound…
This morning for Toastmasters we had a garden party at the gorgeous Marina House Inn and each of us read a poem. It was supremely civilized and idyllic.
I chose the poem below by Tagore, in honour of my musical rebirth. It literally brought a tear to my eye (yes, I’m sentimental about the whole thing.)
Little Flute
Thou hast made me endless, such is thy pleasure. This frail vessel thou emptiest again and again, and fillest it ever with fresh life.
This little flute of a reed thou hast carried over hills and dales, and hast breathed through it melodies eternally new.
At the immortal touch of thy hands my little heart loses its limits in joy and gives birth to utterance ineffable.
Thy infinite gifts come to me only on these very small hands of mine.
Ages pass, and still thou pourest, and still there is room to fill.
Visit here to listen to my first collaborative electronic track, made with my friend Master Akhentek featuring vocals by the amazing & angelic Theda.
We call our collaborative project Pharoelidae which is a combination of the Latin name parulidae (a genus of songbird known as the “new world warblers” or “wood warblers”) and the word pharoe (as Akhentek has some Egyptian tendencies.)
I play the flute and helped with some of the beats & basslines. Akhentek does the technical wizardry (and I am learning that side of it too…)
It is featured on the Entheos Gathering promo CD.
I am lucky enough to appear in the first “Illuminated and Glowing Travels of Chocobear” video playing flute in Stanley Park.
A fun afternoon indeed.
Today I am tired of words and just want to play the flute.
Today’s assignment is writing about birds, so perhaps that is the next best thing…
On Friday I tried busking for the first time. I stood in front of the Art Gallery in Vancouver for about an hour and a half playing flute. I made about $13.
I noticed that the fast paced, cheerful music was more popular than the moody stuff. With some practice I’ll be able to work up a better set and build my endurance so I can play for a longer time.
I’m also considering getting the $40 busking permit which allows one to stake out better spots.
I really enjoyed performing and watching how people reacted to it.
I’ll be exploring busking further this summer and polishing up my act.

The classical music world is highly competitive, and snobbishness, bitchyness, and cruel comments are common. I let old comments from music teachers about how I’m not cut out for major symphony orchestras and thus “not good enough” kill my creativity with the flute after SO MANY years of playing. It’s sad but true.
I’m now getting back into it and realizing that there’s a lot I can do outside of the classical paradigm (which is fun but a very limited place) and am also realizing that not playing much this decade has contributed to creative stagnation as well as interconnected health and emotional problems.
Today I am learning how to practice with joy again and let myself be a beginner when it comes to improvisation and ultimately using music as a healing tool (so far mainly for healing myself.)
The book Effortless Mastery was recommended to me as a resource for learning to improvise and develop a more intuitive approach to music. It’s written from a Jazz musician’s perspective, but it really speaks to the wounded inner musician in me. It has great advice for any type of musician around self-encouragement, practice habits, and rediscovering the pure joy of music. Finding it has been a true blessing.
Why does one do nothing when one cares so passionately about playing music? It is not laziness; it is a sense of being overwhelmed. You need to know this. It’s like the alcoholic acknowledging, “I’m not a bad person, I’m a sick person.” It allows one to feel a bit more self-compassion.
…
Being afflicted by the inability to act, you feel locked out of a glass-enclosed world of functioning musicians. You bang on the glass with scattered practice habits, but nobody hears you. All your attempts to enter are futile. Fear of not becoming great has kept you from becoming great. To find a way out of this dilemma, a thorough re-programming of your mind is necessary.
Tomorrow afternoon I’m going to busk for the first time in front of the Art Gallery before Critical Mass in Vancouver. It’s been empowering to realize that I already am skilled enough to do that. Stop by and spare some change :)
