I started a temporary job in a retail electronics store and experienced a gang of professional shoplifters sweeping through, who managed to steal two laptops. A "family" of a couple and a 17-18 year old girl came in and the girl sweetly asked me to show her musical instruments in one corner while a group of two other guys that came in at the same time distracted my co-worker in an opposite corner. Someone managed to break the locks on the computers and get out before we noticed.
It was very frustrating to be swindled, however I was amazed at the skill of the thieves. Some that I've talked to about the incident have tried to convince me that stealing from "a corporation" is somehow morally ok, Robin Hood style. This is an ethical grey area.
I personally would not steal, however I understand why some others do.
The journey into Hamilton has been educational and rich in terms of life experience...
During "economic downturns" many choose to invest in (and or hoard) gold.
Why is gold so valuable anyway? Is it just for its jewelry value or is there something more to it?
Does it matter?

philosophy-wise I'm leaning towards this sort of thing Now
I'm in New Jersey for my Dad's wedding and it's strange to be back in American "civilization" again. It's bringing up feelings of people being hypnotized by the work/shopping/TV lifestyle though I know not everyone is really as much of a zombie as they seem.
When I left Toronto to go to a cabin on the West coast 5 years ago I had dark feelings about the state of the world, and felt as if everyone were totally clueless about the fact that our way of life is unsustainable and doomed to change. I wanted to be different and spent so much time seeking to "transcend" 3D density that I got lost. Now I'm back, grounded, and ready instead to go deeper, see what I can see, and do what I can do to make a positive difference in this realm while still being aware that there is so much more at the "cosmic" level.
First step? Get a job & figure out how to take care of my own basic needs. I have something temporary lined up for my return to Ontario next week and am hoping for something more substantial soon.
That said, I'd rather be making music.
I have done a bit of playing around with nature sounds from this site and am now working on something a bit more complex with other things from this great source of audio samples.

Shots from my walking around Toronto day yesterday, the church sign made me smile and the tshirts made me laugh...
